Job Description
|
Support INL projects with National Communication Systems (NCS) wireless priority service (WPS) for cellular Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology.
Must be able to provide leadership/technical direction, foster new concept development, pursue business opportunities, and provide technical interface with numerous customers.
Perform research, development, and deployment of emerging communications technologies for a wide range of government and commercial clients.
Support on-going testing and research done at the INL's Next Generation Wireless and Cyber Test Beds within the Department of Energy's large-scale Critical Infrastructure Test Range sited at the INL as well as any future communications test beds added to the range.
Support future expansions of Wireless Test Bed to include various new generations of CDMA-based cellular equipment and applied research.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 11 years relevant experience or advanced degree with 9 years experience, PhD +7. Preferred disciplines is: Electrical Engineering with a focus on Telecommunications technologies.
Special Requirements:
Working knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Cellular CDMA systems: Basestations (BTS), Basestation Controllers (BSC), and Mobile Switching Centers (MSC).
Experience with carrier-grade MSCs and support systems for CDMA (HLRs, VLRs, AuC) and the switching software.
Familiarity with WPS or GETS priority service queuing methods and algorithms.
Knowledge of 2.5/3rd /4th Generation cellular protocols, both the radio and core network (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/W-CDMA, CDMA IS-95, CDMA 1x/3x, CDMA2000).
IEEE, ITU, or Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Standards participation/experience would be a plus.
Advanced degrees are encouraged, but not required.
Must possess excellent written and oral technical communication skills, be able to work in a team environment and obtain a DOE "Q" clearance.
Some travel and fieldwork will also be required.
